Android Ice Cream Sandwich Gets Official! A unified Version of Android For All Devices!
Android Ice Cream Sandwich, the giant successor to all versions of Android got official! There’s no mention of version number yet but its something which might just end Android fragmentation once and for all.
Google did not give away any sort of major details about Android Ice Cream Sandwich at Google I/O but they said something which really caught us by our gut, it will be a unified version of Android which will support all types of devices. Confused? Let me clear it up, unlike Honeycomb which is a dedicated OS for tablets and cannot run on smartphones, but Ice Cream Sandwich will run on tablets, smartphones and any device which would love to house Android. There’s no mention of exact release date yet, but will be available some time in Q4 this year, but we’re hoping Google will roll it out to the current generation smartphones if we’re lucky enough, keep your fingers crossed. Update: Version number of Android Ice Cream Sandwich will be Android 3.4.
