Apple just announced the new and updated Time Capsule, which automatically backs up your content from your Mac and allows you to recover it from any point in time.

2011 Time Capsule

The new Time Capsule is available in two different models, 2TB and 3TB. This is the first time ever that Apple has taken the 3TB plunge, and in our opinion, the 3TB model is pretty handy for making endless backups of your Mac.

Specs

The new Time Capsule weighs in at just 3.5 pounds, and has measurements of 7.7 x 7.7 x 1.4 inches. It supports all the Wi-Fi standards, has Wi-Fi protected Access (WPA/WPA2), and has a secure firewall support. The built-in memory are 2TB or 3TB Serial ATA server-grade hard disks. The interface is pretty much straight forward, has one Gigabit Ethernet WAN port for connecting a DSL or cable Modem, 3 LAN ports for hooking up computers on network drives. And a USB port for connecting a USB printer or USB external hard drive, in case you run out of storage.

In the box you get the Time Capsule itself, power chord and printed documentation. For a complete set of detailed specifications, just head over to Apple’s website.

Compatibility

The Time Capsule is compatible with both Mac and PC’s. For Mac users, you need to be running Mac OS X 10.5.7 or later, and PC users should be running Windows XP SP3 at least. More details can be found here.

Where To Buy?

Thinking of buying one? Just head over to Apple’s online Store. For some reason its still showing the older model of the Time Capsule, don’t worry they will update it soon enough. The price?$299 for the 2TB model, and $499 for the 3TB model.

Alternatively you can also buy the Time Capsule from any Apple Store in the U.S in the coming days.
