Engadget reports that MIT media lab team was eventually successful in creation of a camera with a “shutter speed” of one trillion exposures per second thus enabling it to record light itself traveling from one point to another. This has been achieved through use of a heavily modified Streak Tube which is normally used to intensify photons into electron streams. The team could snap a single image of a laser as it passed through a soda bottle.

To create its slow-motion film in the video, the team had to replicate the experiment several hundreds of times. The stop-motion footage shows how light bounces through the bottle, collecting inside the opaque cap before dispersing. Although the revolutionary snapper may have created fastest shutter but the long time it takes to process the images have earned it the nickname of the “the world’s slowest fastest camera.”

Apple over the weekend has sold more than 4 Million iPhones. That is about 16 iPhones 4S sold every second or roughly saying around 1,000 each minute. These figures are most likely going to further enhance with the iPhone 4S introduction in 22 more countries on October 24th.

By achieving this remarkable milestone, Apple is spearing head to surpass Microsoft’s Kinect which till date is the fastest selling consumer gadget. According to Guinness World Record, by selling 8 million units in the first 60 days, Kinect is currently the world record sale holder for the fastest-selling of any consumer electronic device in the market. But this Microsoft’s sale of 8 million Kinects in the first 60 days is a number that Apple is expected to surpass in the first two weeks.

According to 9to5Mac , the success of the iPhone 4S is attributed to following few factors:

The availability on three U.S. carriers: AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. AT&T and Sprint both announced opening day sales records on Friday. The iPhone 4 was only on AT&T in the US its opening day.

iPhone 4 was released in 5 Countries. iPhone 4S was also available in Canada and Australia in addition.

iPhone 4 saw serious product shortages while it appears that Apple made plenty of iPhone 4S’s

There was a longer than normal wait time between the iPhone 4 and 4S

iPhone 4S is amazing.

How do you envisage the future of Apple’s products in future post Steve Jobs era? [ Via 9to5Mac ]

. This is a really nice tribute by Audio engineer AzR from Ridgefield, CT to a man who had fantastic ideas and lived his life realizing this ideas in favor of humanity. The track, he has composed ‘Thank You Steve’, is a song dedicated to Steve Jobs and composed from only Mac sounds and Steve Jobs’ voice.

Audio engineer AzR from Ridgefield, CT writes on his facebook page:

I made this song using only sounds from Apple products and Steve’s 2005 Stanford commencement speech. Every instrument, including drums, has been sampled from a Mac product, tuned by ear, and replayed in the context of the song.

I hope you enjoy listening to this as much as I enjoyed making it.

RIP Steve. We’ll miss you.

n recognition of all those great achievements and everything that Apple did this year, Apple CEO Tim Cook has sent out an email to its Corporate Employees to let them know that Apple is giving them some extra time off with pay for Thanksgiving,

Year 2011 happened to be a big year for Apple. Apple set new sales records around the world with its new, innovative and launch of some of best products ever like, the iPad 2, the iPhone 4S, iCloud, iOS 5, Siri, OS X Lion. But on the other hand, it has been gloomy, hard and rather a year of the biggest loss where Apple lost its co-founder and ex-CEO Steve Jobs who silently passed passed away last week.

In recognition of all those great achievements and everything that Apple did this year, Apple CEO Tim Cook has sent out an email to its Corporate Employees to let them know that Apple is giving them some extra time off with pay for Thanksgiving, reports MacGeneration.

The email from MacGeneration notes:

Team,

I consider it an honor to come to work every day alongside the most innovative and most dedicated people on earth. This is an extraordinary time to be at Apple, and it’s all made possible by your incredible efforts.

We’ve had a record-setting year so far and we’re heading into the holidays with the strongest product lineup in our history. Customers are absolutely in love with the iPad 2, and the amazing new iPhone 4S is off to the best start of any iPhone we’ve ever made. The Mac is soaring to new heights with OS X Lion, and on the eve of its 10th birthday, the iPod is still the world’s most popular music player.

In recognition of the hard work you’ve put in this year, we’re going to take some extra time off for Thanksgiving. We will shut down with pay on November 21, 22 and 23 so our teams can spend the entire week with their families and friends.

Of course, Retail and some other groups will need to work that week so we can continue to serve our customers. If you’re in one of these groups, please check with your manager about taking time off at a later date. Our international teams will schedule their three-day shutdowns this quarter at a time that’s best for them. Details will be available on AppleWeb.

I hope everyone enjoys this much deserved break.

Tim

Not a bad idea. This act of Tim will certainly provide good a relief and breather to hard working and devoted employees of Apple.

Below is the email:

Team,

Like many of you, I have experienced the saddest days of my lifetime and shed many tears during the past week. But I’ve found some comfort in the extraordinary number of tributes and condolences from people all over the world who were touched by Steve and his genius. And I’ve found comfort in both telling and listening to stories about Steve.

Although many of our hearts are still heavy, we are planning a celebration of his life for Apple employees to take time to remember the incredible things Steve achieved in his life and the many ways he made our world a better place. The celebration will be held on Wednesday, October 19, at 10am in the outdoor amphitheater on the Infinite Loop campus. We’ll have more details on AppleWeb closer to the date, including arrangements for employees outside of Cupertino.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Tim

Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple, after iPhone 4S event, peacefully passed away last Wednesday and whose private funeral was held n Friday. Although no public events were scheduled except that many paid tribute at Apple’s retail stores around the world where they left notes, flowers, and other items of remembrance. This scheduled event of October 19th is the only one from Apple and is of tremendous significance to Jobs’ lovers. [ Via MacRumors ]

Although Apple didn’t come up with all-new iPhone 5 that everyone was so much expecting, and the newly announced iPhone 4S though looks quite similar to the existing iPhone 4, yet the AT&T iPhone 4 and the new iPhone 4S are a bit different to the extent that the existing iPhone 4′s cases would be a bit misfit to this new arrival. The silent switch and volume up/down buttons have been shifted over so slightly that the old cases probably won’t fit. So the only good news expected that we will able to use our current stock of iPhone 4 cases with new iPhone 4S, proved wishful thinking!

Those using a Verizon iPhone 4, have nothing to worry at all, because the iPhone 4S is externally almost exactly similar to a CDMA device. However, in AT&T (GSM) one case, things are going to be a little different as far as placing of buttons are concerned. This has been probably done to accommodate the redesigned antenna on the iPhones 4S whereby Apple was obliged to move a tiny bit the mute switch and the volume buttons, but for some case that only just accommodate the mute switch and volume buttons , the difference means your need to buy a new one as the existing one will no longer fit.

It will be rather a good idea to buy a new case right on the day when you have your new iPhone 4S in your hand. [ Via Gizmodo ]

The number changing from 2 to 3 represents major changes, and with the Apple TV recently gaining a fully re-designed case, this upgrade is expected to mainly consist of internal changes.

Here is proof posted by 9to5Mac.

It appears that the new Apple TV will gain some internal power boost from the iPhone 4S and iPad 2′s dual-core A5 chips and the RAM portion may get enhancement. The dual-core powered Apple TV may lead to 1080P video playback which is currently restricted due to existing A4 processor. We may see some 1080P iTunes content to come along with this next-generation model’s new abilities as well. This Apple TV 3,1 reference has been discovered from a file that Apple uses to activate unreleased devices which in testing phase. Important to note is that Apple 3,1 is already in testing stages. If all goes well, Apple might consider bringing this update with the release of next iPad. [ Via 9to5Mac ]

Apple’s magical ‘let’s talk iPhone’ media event is about to kick off in a short time where new hardware announcements are going to be made.
Apart from the video mentioned above, you can simply head over to links given below for the complete live coverage of the event as it happens:

The ‘let’s talk iPhone’ media event has been much awaited by a lot of Apple fans, and more specifically; iOS fans. The said event is going to take place in Apple’s very own campus in Cupertino, California, where new iPhone related announcements are going to be made.

Considering all the reports and rumors we’ve been hearing from time to time, it seems unlikely that we will get to see a whole-new redesigned iPhone 5. Instead Apple might just surprise everyone with the iPhone 4S and a cheaper iPhone 4 with 8GB memory capacity.

It might prove to be a huge let down for a lot of iPhone enthusiasts, but looking at the bright side of it, Apple is going to unleash an iteration of the iPhone which will pack some insane hardware under the hood, while at the same time, keeping the design of the iPhone 4S exactly the same as the iPhone 4.

The iPhone 4S is expected to house the same dual core A5 processor found in the iPad 2, with 1GB of RAM and a much improved 8 megapixel camera, and if we’re lucky enough, we might get 1080p video recording as well, who knows.

The announcement of the iPhone isn’t the only thing which we’re expecting from this event, there is a high possibility that Apple might refresh the iPod touch lineup, kill off the iPod Classic and Shuffle, announce iCloud, iOS 5 and iTunes 10.5.

Looking back at Apple’s calendar and the way they announce things, we see things unfold in this manner; Apple will announce the iPhone 4S, and at the same time announce iOS 5 GM to developers with a public release only when the iPhone 4S hits the shelves in a couple of weeks or so.

Although our predictions might be a shot in the dark but there’s a high probability that Apple will in deed follow the same manner of announcements and releases.

Simply bookmark this page and head back at 10AM Pacific Time when one of the greatest event of the year kicks off in Cupertino!
