George Hotz (aka geohot), the kid who was the first to unlock the original iPhone back in 2007 and then iPhone 3GS in July 2009, followed by his jailbreak work on blackra1n and blacksn0w made him the person under whose thumb iPhone has to operate and survive. He can truly be called father of iPhone jailbreak. Today he announced through a tweet on Twitter that he has hacked the Sony Play station PS3.

GeoHot 1GeoHot said he was working for 3 years, 2 months and 11 days in Play station Project. According to GeoHot he got read/write access to the entire system memory, and HV level access to the processor. He also managed to dumps of LV0 and LV1 and the NAND without removing it or a modchip. Means you can flash the NAND without any hardware hacking.

Geohot has not made his exploit public for the fear that Sony can update the firmware or launch a new layer of security to counter his break through. GeoHot paid compliments to Sony for making hacking so difficult on PS3 gaming console. It’s likely that GeoHot will post new updates on his blog, in the coming hours, days, or weeks. Wait and stay tuned as lot more of information is expected to be posted here as soon as he reveals that.
