iOS 5 Will Notify Japanese iPhone Users Whenever There Is An Earthquake
Following the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake which took Japan by storm and took many precious lives, Apple is making an implementation in iOS 5, which would help people know when an earthquake has struck and take measures accordingly.

The discovery of this feature was originally made by 9to5Mac, and according to them:
iOS 5 users in Japan can turn on early earthquake notifications at the very bottom of the iOS 5 Notification Center settings pane.
The earthquake notifications can be turned on with a simple flick of a switch which is showed in the screenshot below:

The notification of an earthquake will be received via iOS 5’s Notification Center, simple as that. 9to5Mac also points out that the warning system will use a bit of battery life on the iPhone since it needs to stay connected with “Japan’s earthquake warning system”.
We really see this feature as a very handy tool for all Japanese citizens, as they will get to know in advance about a possible earthquake and what measures they should take to overcome it, or protect themselves from it.
