An updated version of Redsn0w has just been released which is dubbed as 0.9.6b2, and it uses the same Limera1n exploit which Geohot came up with. It can jailbreak iPhone 4, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G (Non MC Model)/3G/4G on iOS 4.1 and the iPad running on iOS 3.2.2 along with a few other surprises.

Now you can have custom boot logos on your iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G (non MC). And apart from this, you can now restore custom IPSW files which were cooked on PwnageTool For Mac, so you better be off finding a friend or a close someone who might own a Mac so you can cook your custom firmwares on. According to MuscleNerd from the iPhone Dev Team:

Halloween treat: upcoming redsn0w offers pwned-DFU (limera1n) mode… Windows users can then restore to custom IPSW

(tonight’s Halloween redsn0w will also bring back custom bootlogos for iPhone3GS owners with older bootroms)

For latest redsn0w users: “Just enter pwned DFU mode” is mostly for Windows users. The “Just boot tethered” is for future

To sum it all up it goes like this, you cook on Mac and restore on Windows, simple as that! The steps for jailbreaking are exactly the same as the previous release which are posted over at RedmondPie, Windows users click here and Mac users click here.
