  • Laptop Size:  The fundamental aim of shifting to a laptop from desktop computer is to be portable without sacrificing power. If you need something with an optical drive (CD-RW, DVD±R, etc.), a little more power and screen size, but still need a light weight machine, you may consider an ultra portable Notebook. Of course, do not forget that the smaller the package is,the higher will be the price tag. If you can sacrifice on optical drive (CD-RW, DVD±R, etc.), and consider weight and size a primary consideration, Netbook will be the best option for you.
  • Battery Life:  There is nothing worse than looking for an outlet in the middle of a project, meeting or when during a leg of few hours journey at stretch. Battery life is an important factor in the selection of a laptop. One would certainly not like to be tethered to a wall all the time. The whole idea behind getting a laptop is to get rid of energy dependence even if it’s for a few hours. So better look for a system that is able to hold a charge for several hours. Netbooks are generally giving more time on battery than Notebooks. 
  • Screen Size: As a general rule, the larger the laptop’s screen size, the larger the whole system will be. Remember, if you desire a screen as big as your desktop at your home, prepare to pay in the shape of weight, power consumption and price tag. There are ultra slim laptops with 19 inch screens, but these are highly expensive. You certainly will have both a lighter computer and a lighter wallet. If screen size is not a consideration, then Netbook is rather a better and cost effective option.
  • Price:  Due to rapid development in today’s world of technology, the gadgets need to be replaced quite frequently. Loss due to depreciation in the value of these expensive gadgets to be replaced, at times becomes un-affordable. Therefore, it will be wise to buy a laptop which will not only fulfill the desired functions but also carry a reasonable price tag.
