New Airport Extreme And 3TB Time Capsule Confirmed! Could Launch Any Moment Now
Yesterday we reported that Apple is working on a new and improved Airport Extreme and also a 3TB version of the Time Capsule, the news has now been confirmed by 9to5Mac, and the new and updated lineup could drop “any day now”.

As confirmed previously, the Airport extreme will run on the same Wi-Fi n standard, except that it will have better reception, 6 antennas if we’re not wrong. And for all those Time Capsule lovers out there, the new caching feature is a go! It will cache future Mac OS and iOS updates before making them available to you, which will of course save you the hassle to manually download the update yourself. The biggest surprise that we’re seeing here is the 3TB memory configuration of the Time Capsule, which is a lot! And pretty awesome for making endless backups of everything that lurks in your Mac for a good amount of time. The part numbers of the new Airport Extreme and Time Capsule are as follows:
Here are the new part numbers courtesy of Mr. X:
MD031LL/A – AIRPORT EXTREME 802.11N (5TH GEN)- USA
MD032LL/A – TIME CAPSULE 2TB (4TH GENERATION) – USA
MD033LL/A – TIME CAPSULE 3TB (4TH GENERATION) – USA
Apart from the Time Capsule and Airport Extreme, we’re suspecting Apple to launch an all new Mac Pro and the Mac Mini with Sandy Bridge processors, Thunderbolt I/O and maybe if we’re lucky enough, a new design. The Mac Pro on the other hand is getting a new redesign chassis, which in our opinion somewhat “meh”. Because the hot swappable hard drive option is gone, bummer for some, yay for few.
