New MacBook Air Has Hit The Production Line: DigiTimes
We’ve been hearing about the new MacBook Air for quite some time, and just to our liking, the production of the new MacBook Air has begun according to DigiTimes.

The new MacBook Air will be a major upgrade in terms of hardware only, not design. We’re expecting that the design aspects would remain the same, whereas the internal hardware would get a spec bump. According to different reports, the new MacBook Air will finally get over with the crappy old Core 2 duo processor and jump onto the Intel Sandy Bridge processor bandwagon, but that’s not all, the new MacBook Air is said to get the high speed Thunderbolt I/O port too, which was developed by Intel in collaboration with Apple. The Thunderbolt I/O is faster than USB 3.0 and eSATA combined, which means that Thunderbolt is a screamer when it comes to transferring data from one end to the other, but sadly there aren’t many accessories which support Thunderbolt at the moment, but maybe in the future we might just see a few, or even more.
The production of the new MacBook Air is going to be huge! Apple is forecasting a very high demand this time, as HardMac points out:
Apple would have planned to sell 8 million units only in Q3 2011 and ordered 2.2 to 2.4 million units for the launch.
That amount is twice as much which Apple had expected and forecasted for the current generation MacBook Air. Hence, we’re assuming that the new MacBook Air is going to be a great product.
So, what about launch? If our estimate is correct, then we should see the new MacBook Air in July, why is that so? Because that is the time when OS X Lion hits the Mac App Store for general consumption. And it would be odd for Apple to launch a new product with old software.
Anyways, whenever the MacBook Air comes out, we will keep you updated! Stay tuned.
