The new version of Skype, which is version 5.3, has been recently rolled out and now fully supports Apple’s latest and greatest OS for the Mac lineup, OS X Lion. Apart from the full support for Lion, comes in another awesome feature which many Skypers have been dying to get their hands on: HD video calling.

At the moment, the only way through which you can initiate an HD video call from your Mac is through FaceTime, but the problem is; many people don’t use FaceTime, mainly due to users being on different platforms, here, Skype solves the HD related vows. From Skype’s website:

The latest version of Skype for Mac offers sharper video calls than ever before. If you have an HD webcam, your friends and colleagues will see you in High Definition. If they have the latest version and an HD webcam, you’ll see them in HD too.

If you’re running the Mac’s new operating system, you’ve got no worries about compatibility. Skype 5.3 has been designed to work perfectly with OS X Lion.
