Sprint Brings 4G Speed To iPhone: [Video]
While the next generation of iPhone (4G) is on its way and likely to be available to users by the end of this year, Sprint has started advertising “4G speeds” on the existing 3G/3GS iPhones using Sierra Wireless Overdrive 4G WiFi hotspot. This is yet another way to make your iPhone 10 times faster. With a slight touch of humor, Sprint latest ad is aimed at promoting their Sierra Wireless Overdrive 4G WiFi hotspot.

The ad features “Matt” and the appropriately-named iPhone-owner “Steve.” Here it is what conversation takes place between the two:
“My friend Steve’s iPhone is cool, but it’s limited to AT&T’s 3G speeds. Matt says. “So I’m going to use the Overdrive 4G mobile hotspot to make it up to ten times faster. And while that’s happening, I’m going to enjoy this tasty snack,” at which point Matt pulls out an apple and takes a bite. Steve connects to the Sprint 4G WiFi network on his iPhone and quickly begins streaming a music video which leads him to exclaim, “Whoa. Done.” The ad ends with Matt asking, “What can you do with 4G?” before the narrator chimes in, “Whatever you do, do it up to ten times faster than 3G with 4G from Sprint.”

This device let you browse the web “up to 10 times faster” by providing a WiFi hotspot that uses Sprint’s 4G network. Just to remind you, this higher 4G speed will be at the cost of carrying yet another device in your pocket. Are you ready to carry an additional device with your iPhone?
And what about iPad! Will this device work with iPad as well? [Via Mashable]

So ipad or not? Im tempted, but not quite. The limitations mentioned are pretty significant. I’ll wait for more widespread HTML5 adoption, multi-tasking, the next wave of apps and a webcam. Great review though, surprisingly balanced.
