The first ever renders of Windows Phone devices from Nokia were actually good enough to provoke the feeling “I want one!”. But wait no further, Stephen Elop (CEO Nokia) has spilled the beans and have shown off the first ever real Nokia handset running Windows Phone 7 codenamed Sea Ray.

As Winrumors points out, the device was demonstrated at a very top secret-like company meeting within Nokia, in which the “confidential” Windows Phone 7 Nokia device was caught on camera despite Elop warning everyone in the room that what he was about to show to the press was confidential. Here’s a quick video of the device in action:

The device carries the traditional Nokia design and is very similar to the just released Nokia N9. The only specs that we know about the mysterious device is that its screen is Gorilla Glass, has a pillow shaped back and has an 8MP Carl Ziess lens camera. Nokia is expected to launch this device by the end of this year with the much awaited Windows Phone Mango update on board.

Nokia and Microsoft signed a partnership deal together in which Nokia would be providing hardware for Windows Phone devices in the future. This move was made when Nokia was rapidly losing their market share due to their ever aging platform Symbian, which was a king back in its day. The only scapegoat for survival was for Nokia to partner up with Microsoft for Windows Phone handsets. You can read the whole press release regarding the whole deal here. Quite honestly, we expect a lot from Nokia when it comes to smartphones for one reason: they make pretty good hardware, it’s the software that has been letting them down, maybe Windows Phone will do its trick, lets see if it does.
