Twitter For Android Finally Gets Push Notifications! Ready For Download In The Android Market Now!
Fellow tweeples using Android around the globe, great news for everyone! The official Twitter for Android app has just received an update and push notifications are a go, and is awaiting your download in the Android Market.

Twitter for Android has been around for quite a while, but the thing which it has lacked for a long time, and is something which iOS users have been flaunting are: Push notifications. Finally the wait is up and Twitter for Android fully supports push notifications. From the official Twitter blog:
First, we now offer push notifications. Push notifications let you instantly receive Twitter updates – no matter what you’re doing on your phone. In your account settings, select “automatic refresh” and choose to receive updates for Direct Messages, @Mentions (from the people you follow or anyone), and Tweets.
But the story doesn’t end here, apart from push notifications support, Twitter for Android now also support multiple Twitter accounts.
You can also now use multiple accounts on Twitter for Android without ever logging out. It’s easy to switch between accounts to discover and share what’s happening in the world. Plus, we’ve updated the appearance of home screen widgets and added a bunch of other improvements and bug fixes.
From the description in the Android Market, the following changes have been added:
What’s in this version:
- In this version:
- 1. Push notifications.
- 2. Multiple accounts.
- 3. Updated home screen widgets.
- 4. Many other improvements and bug fixes.

We highly recommend that you give the Twitter for Android app a shot, if you’ve already installed Twitter for Android then you should see an update for it in the Market, otherwise do a fresh install. Just open Market, search for Twitter, and download, that’s it.
